BlackBerry Crumble – Are We Seeing the End of an Icon?

It’s been yet another busy week in the world of BlackBerry and one that by all accounts would be preferable if wiped from memory altogether. It’s becoming all-too apparently that we’ve all been given a front-row seat to watch the slow and agonising death of what was once one of the world’s favourite and more important brands – BlackBerry’s clock is ticking and it’s only a matter of time before it’s all over.

How Does The Nokia Lumia 920 Measure Up To The Blackberry Z10?

The Blackberry Z10 has finally made its arrival, marching in loud and proud with the Blackberry 10 operating system accompanying it. The company hopes that this unit will be the one that will help rejuvenate sales to the company. The Z10 is a worthy competitor against other smart phones like the iPhone 5 and the Galaxy S3, but the truth is, the smart phone should be placed in the same category as the Nokia Lumia 920. This Windows 8 smart phone is quickly rising in the ranks toward smart phone superiority, and the Z10 could be the closest thing the 920 has to a contender. How do these two phones compare when it comes to specification?

Benefits Of A QWERTY Keyboard On A Smartphone

Listen

There are many smartphone handsets out there that have been given a QWERTY keyboard but there are also plenty that have not, so what are the benefits?  The format has proved to be very successful with the BlackBerry range and the QWERTY keyboard is something of an asset here, firstly because it allows the user to be a little quicker with their typing.  This means that both emails and text messages can be completely more quickly.  The buttons on a physical QWERTY keyboard can often be easier to use than those on a virtual keyboard.  As the vast majority of users will send a minimum of one text each day, not to mention replying to emails, there is a great deal of typing on the handset and buttons that respond properly are a bonus. A business mobile phone is certainly more effective with a proper keyboard even though it means a smaller screen.

HTML5 on Hype: True or Not

HTML 5 is the next version of HTML that is under development and will replace most existing HTML languages on web pages all over the globe. Some technologist think it will bring improvement, other are concerned about the problems that may be caused due toHTML5.the following article explains the hype of HTML5.

HTML5 in precise definition

For web developers, HTML5 is just a modernized programming language and nothing more. Like conventional HTML it is not just software or a program, but it is used for implementation of modern features and designs. The current version is incompatible with today’s world as it was released in 1997 which makes it not up to date and incompatible with features like java, flash and Ajax. The aim of HTML5 is to make implementation of mobile based programming and modern features much easier and in compatible way.

Functionality

Many believe that HTML5 will change the internet and mobile programming for better but some are still confused. .Although the language uses the basic language but increase the functionality features and accessible when used with other applications. The speed and functionality are the two modules on which the developers have focused.

Mobile Devices Utilization

HTML5 is designed to make browsing with mobile easier. The features that it offers are particularly mobile browsing oriented. Mobile users get frustrated by the outcome of the conventional HTML as web pages are not displayed as they are displayed on laptop or desktop. HTML5 is particularly designed to view web pages on mobile easily and accessibly.

Upcoming Internet Changes:

The programmers are highly excited about the change that will occur to the internet world with HTML5. The new language is proclaimed to simplify the programming language and syntax that make more sense with modern programming techniques. Programming can be done faster and additional features can be implemented that is not an easy task with the current HTML. Since the language is still in development phase, it is unknown what type of programming language changes will occur.

-->
Potential downside:

While there are advantages of programming with HTML5, there are few disadvantages as well. One of the biggest disadvantages is that the programmers will have to learn the new language. This is a time consuming and may frustrate the programmers. Further, if the browser isn’t enabled to sight HTML5, it will not display the content of web page. This can affect the compatibility and accessibility of web site. Though many browsers have updated there sources but still coping with the changes take time.

With concluding the advantages and disadvantages of HTML5 it can be said that until its release no final verdict can be given. The official version of language is yet to be released. Until then, programmers should look into the new changes so they can be ready to switch over to the new language when it is officially released.

What Is A Smartphone?

The Smartphone devices are popular among the cell phone users all over the world. The question is: what is a Smartphone, and how it is different from the traditional cell phones? A Smartphone device is actually a cell phone which has various, additional features. A Smartphone is built on an operating system which has the ability to perform advanced computing functions and Internet connectivity. The Smartphone was introduced to the concept of combining the functions of the cell phone and a personal digital assistant. The recent models of Smartphones go beyond that and have some additional features which are neither available in the traditional cell phones or in the personal digital assistants such as built-in media players, cameras, and GPS navigation.

Basic Features of the Smartphones

The recent models of Smartphones also include a touch screen feature, a high-resolution, built-in camera, various browsers that also display the standard Websites besides opening the mobile versions of the Websites. With the compatibility for WiFi and mobile broadband, the connectivity of the latest Smartphones is also included in some of the brands of Smartphones. There are various operating systems used in the different brands of these Smartphone devices. Some of the common operating systems are: Apple’s iOS, Android from Google, Symbian from Nokia, BlackBerry from RIM, Windows from Microsoft, Bada from Samsung, and WebOS from HP. The Smartphone market becomes an extremely attractive place for the developers as the interest of people is increasing in these devices.

The Operating System

One of the main features of the Smartphones is the “apps” which is the shortened form of “applications.” These apps are actually a small software that is developed to perform certain tasks such as playing popular games and other professional tasks. The popularity of Smartphone apps is increasing as people want to download an app for any reason such as getting the information of the local weather, or knowing the prices of your favorite stocks. Some of the recent models of Smartphones have the ability to connect to the Internet via 3G which is a high-speed, Internet connectivity service. Keeping in mind the dependence on the Internet is increasing, the developers of Smartphones are also providing different options on Smartphones that are based on the Internet.

Importance of the Memory

Some of these Smartphones have the option of a memory card slot to increase the memory of your device. Some other Smartphones, such as the iPhone from Apple, has a massive, internal memory so you can store movies, music, and large files without buying a memory card. Some of the Smartphones have the ability to support the push email feature which enables the users to send and receive emails in real time. Some other Smartphone devices provide you the facility to sync various email accounts in one service.  Choosing your Smartphone is extremely important as you need to be sure which brand suits you best. The needs of every person are different when they go to buy a Smartphone device; therefore, you need to know why you want to get the Smartphone.

Blackberry Z10 Vs Apple iPhone 5

The BB 10 smartphones have been the topic of discussion for a long time. So when the Z10 was released, a large number of tech geeks got their hands on this killer handset. The keyboard-less BlackBerry is will remind you of another popular smartphone: the iPhone 5.

Let’s face it. Apple has apps that are quite frankly the most superior to anything else on the market you could ever find. But suppose you don’t care much about iOS and most of your friends and colleagues use BBM? That’s when the Blackberry Z10 will begin to look a lot better than the latest iPhone.

Let’s see how these smartphone giants stack up against each other.

Display

The 4 inch screen of the iPhone 5 comes with Retina Display that makes everything look bright and sharp. With 1136x640 resolution, the handset offers users 326 ppi. This is pretty great for any smartphone.

The Z10 has a slightly larger screen at 4.2 inches and comes with an LCD display. With 356 ppi, this handset offers higher density than Apple’s latest. Though lacking the sharpness of the Retina Display, the 1280x768 resolution is pretty neat.

With regard to display, both the smartphones are nearly at par with each other.

Processor

Apple’s A6 chip powers its latest smartphone while the iPhone 4S has the A5 processor.

Camera

It is common knowledge that the iPhone 5 smartphone cameras are absolute wonders. We’re not just talking about the megapixels here. The 8MP camera comes with a host of wonderful features, especially the panorama shot (28 MP).

The Z10 has an 8MP camera too, but it has a separate set of features that you can play around with. One of the best is Time Shift. Enabling it will allow you to take burst photographs, detect the faces and swap them around so that everyone has their best smile in place.

Operating System

Apple’s iOS 6 is a joy to behold because of its killer interface and plethora of app choices. There is no denying the fact that Apple has created a near-perfect ecosystem for its iPhone customers.

The Z10 is not far behind with its spanking new Blackberry 10 OS. Corporate management and seamless messaging is just the tip of the iceberg here. BB10 users can access over 70,000 apps already in place. However, the absence of some large names might be a downer.

At the present moment, you don’t have much of a choice. The Z10 will not be available in stores till March, 2013. If you have the patience to wait, it might just stand you in good stead. If BlackBerry manage to smoothen out the OS and add more apps to its store, then the battle could get interesting.

Moreover, the Z10 is superior if you look at battery performance. It offers 10 hours and 54 minutes as compared to the iPhone 5’s 8 hours and 40 minutes. This could be a defining feature that Z10 could benefit from.
-->

At the end of the day, both are high-end phones that anybody would enjoy using. Put side by side, the iPhone 5 might just come up on top. This is mainly on the strength of its app store and superior camera capabilities.

App Mobile vs Website Mobile

Follow @ryderskull88

A mobile application (or mobile app) is a software application designed to run on smartphones, tablet computers and other mobile devices. They are available through application distribution platforms, which are typically operated by the owner of the mobile operating system, such as the Apple App Store, Google Play, Windows Phone Marketplace and BlackBerry App World. Some apps are free, while others have a price. Usually, they are downloaded from the platform to a target device, such as an iPhone, BlackBerry, Android phone or Windows Phone 7, but sometimes they can be downloaded to less mobile computers, such as laptops or desktops. For apps with a price, generally a percentage, 20-30%, goes to the distribution provider (such as iTunes), and the rest goes to the producer of the app.

The term "app" has become popular, and in 2010 was listed as "Word of the Year" by the American Dialect Society. Technologist Michael Saylor has referred to the newer mobile app enabled smartphones as "app-phones" for their distinction from the earlier smartphone models. He states that these app-phones can support many applications and programming languages and should be considered computers first and phones second.

Mobile Working in the Private Sector

Follow @ryderskull88

Mobile and remote working have become important assets to businesses that are looking to improve productivity, increase flexibility and secure long-term growth.

However, there is an understandable reluctance amongst some organizations in the private sector when it comes to adopting the tools that are necessary to support mobile working. This is largely due to the fact that companies want to ensure that data security is still a paramount concern and that by letting information outside of an internal set-up it is not going to be abused.

High-profile cases of data loss resulting from misplaced laptops and smartphones have made headlines and caused embarrassment for public sector organizations. In the private sector, however, such incidents can be terminal for companies involved.

It is worth noting that remote access to business-critical information is only going to increase in the coming years. The IDC estimates that 70 per cent of employees will be able to get at this kind of data outside the physical constraints of the workplace, but it is important to state that while the formality of the traditional office space may be being eroded, the ability to make this new mobile world a safe place for business data to exist is not out of reach.

Patching Leaks

Almost a third of data leaks occur as a result of meddling from an internal agent, which means that disgruntled or misguided staff with the right kind of access privileges can cause havoc. While this does indicate that there is a need to ensure that the proper security checks are carried out before people are employed, it speaks to a wider need for training and education.

Accidental data loss is just as damaging as malicious breaches, so instructing employees on how best to handle business data when it is remotely accessible will help to prevent disasters.

Device Security

While it is impossible to completely eliminate the loss of devices like laptops, smartphones and tablets, some of the most problematic circumstances arise when it becomes apparent that a business did not properly protect the information stored on these gadgets.

There are a variety of options when it comes to device security that can help make the mobile working environment safe and acceptable. Data encryption is now seen as a basic precaution and there is absolutely no excuse for a lack of adequate password protection for individual devices.

Contemporary smartphone operating systems offer a number of security features that can help give businesses peace of mind if they are lost or stolen. You can remotely wipe information from the integrated memory and SD card of popular handset types like BlackBerry, as well as having the option to track the location of the missing device using GPS so that it can be recovered if necessary.

The value of lost devices will be far lower than that of the data which is stored on them, meaning that money spent on safe, secure devices and platforms will not need to be spent many times over further down the line after loss or theft.

 Access Management

The use of virtualization and the cloud can help to improve the security of the mobile working environment. By running apps and storing data remotely, not to mention making it accessible on a temporary basis from portable devices, you minimize the amount of precious information which is actively held on said devices.

In addition, taking a tiered approach to access, so that employees are granted admission to particular services based not only on their position in the company but also their location and the device they are using, will help with any security concerns.
Daisy Group plc are leading providers of Unified Communications to private and public sector companies across the UK for over 12 years.  As communications specialists Daisy are able to advise companies on the most secure ways of allowing remote access to business-critical information through cloud services.

Take the Opportunity of SIM Only Contracts

Here are some great reasons why you would want to consider SIM only as your next contract. SIM only contracts will cost you less per month as a SIM card is only provided. They are more adaptable as you can switch networks or change the tariff if it is not suitable. With a standard mobile contract you will receive a mobile phone along with the SIM but with a SIM only contract you will just receive a SIM card. This is why these plans can cost much less then most deals. The SIM card you receive is placed in your mobile to acquire the services of the network. Here are the best features of SIM-Only:

Minimum of One Month Contract is Available

If you are not looking for a long contract then there are other options available which give you the same benefits of a standard contract. All SIM only plans come with either on a 30 day rolling agreement or a 12 Month plan. This variety of plans will suit different user’s needs and how long they wish to commit to. It is possible to get better deals with longer plans, where you can get a discount for the longer agreement. When you want to cancel you give your notice period and there is no termination fee.

Any Time Any Network Calls

With different providers offering mobile tariffs and each provider having their own network infrastructure. It becomes necessary to make calls to different networks. With SIM only you dont have to be concerned about calling a different network, SIM only tariffs come with any network calls which you can make at any time. Of course the number of calls you make is not unlimited but also depends on the package you have chosen. You will also have to check what the charges are if you do exceed the allowance as the prices can differ amongst the networks.

Ideal for SIM Free Mobiles

When you purchase a SIM free mobile it is essentially contract free and does not come with a SIM. SIM free mobiles can benefit from SIM-only as you can choose the network you want. You can also change networks too with less hassle as SIM free mobiles are unlocked. Furthermore these phones can be used abroad where you can pick up a local SIM to avoid roaming charges.

No Longer Be Bound To a Single Provider

Many of the vendors in the UK are offering SIM only contracts. You do not have to stick with one provider and can change deals if there are better offers available. This has significantly increased competition in this sector lowering prices and the introduction of incentives associated with SIM only deals. Choose from Vodafone SIM only for their Blackberry and iPhone plans to Three Mobile which offers unlimited internet SIM only deals.

Karim is a technology enthusiast and is currently writing about SIM only contracts. You can find great value deals with Vodafone SIM only for your iPhone and SIM free phone.

Picture of Different Brands and Model of Smartphone Part-2

Nokia Smartphone

In 2007 Nokia launched the Nokia N95 which integrated a wide range of multimedia features into a consumer-oriented smartphone: GPS, a 5 megapixel camera with autofocus and LED flash, 3G and Wi-Fi connectivity and TV-out. In the next few years these features would become standard on high-end smartphones. The Nokia 6110 Navigator is a Symbian based dedicated GPS phone introduced in June 2007.

In 2010 Nokia released the Nokia N8 smartphone with a stylus-free capacitive touchscreen, the first device to use the new Symbian^3 OS. It featured a 12 megapixel camera with Xenon flash able to record HD video in 720p, described by Mobile Burn as the best camera in a phone, and satellite navigation that Mobile Choice described as the best on any phone. It also featured a front-facing VGA camera for videoconferencing.

Ultimate Business Phone - BlackBerry Bold 9900

This article is a guest post from  mobiledeals of  http://www.best-mobile-contracts.co.uk/

There is one thing you notice when you first pick up a BlackBerry Bold 9900 contract and that is the notable difference in shape of the new device compared to earlier versions. It is far slicker than some of the recent BlackBerry attempts and has little excess on its newly streamlined body. This is very impressive, though not as much as the feel of the QWERTY keyboard, which really leaves a very positive feel in the hand.

The screen on the Bold also feels fantastic and after using the original BlackBerry Bold you will be relieved that BlackBerry had done a better job with this. This display is a 2.8inch one that offers nice contrasts and good colours. Though it is only a 640x480 display it looks well because of the displays diminutive size.

The phone itself responded well to use and you can see the difference made by the 1.2GHz processor almost immediately. The device is quick and has no lag issues like some of the previous devices we have used from BlackBerry.

This is in no way hindered by the new operating system, OS7, which goes a long way in speeding up the phone. This system is a lot more intuitive than the previous ones and goes a step in the right direction at pushing RIM up with iOS and Android – though there is some work to do just yet.

The preloaded applications, such as Docs2Go and Drop-box, are extremely handy and give you a sense at where BlackBerry is aiming this phone. The phone also had a good camera and we found the auto focus to be very good. It was also well capable of recording 720p videos, which was a relief and we enjoyed the fact it was an improvement on the last Bold's camera.

The Bold 9900’s browsing experience is very good as well, although a lack of support for Flash means that some sites don't work which feels a little limiting. Saying that, the mixture of a QWERTY keyboard and a touch screen had its advantages when browsing and the pace at which the device delivers the pages onto your screen is quite exceptional.

The device also has NFC which is great, it’s just a shame its early days yet and not so many places use right now. With more and more manufacturers throwing this into their phones though, it won't be long before mobile payments become as commonplace as chip and pin or even cash.

Overall we enjoyed the Bold 9900, it’s a big improvement for BlackBerry and one RIM and fans will be happy with.

The Top Five Mobile Phones for Entertainment

This article is a guest post from  mobiledeals of  http://www.best-mobile-contracts.co.uk/.

Phones have come a long way since the ubiquitous Nokia 3310 (which in all fairness is still a jolly good phone and my mother rues the day I changed hers to a Nokia N79 and keeps on trying to steal my father’s 6210 despite previously dismissing it as too new-fangled) and now must be a symbiosis of worldwide communication, font of all knowledge and information, high power multimedia system and a stylish fashion accessory.
Our phone priorities are all different, my father is consistently smug about his superior signal despite not being able to watch dancing dogs and talking cats on YouTube, but if you want your mobilephone deals for entertainment purposes, the below list provides details of the best phones on the market.

Sony Ericsson Xperia Play

For those whose idea of entertainment is gaming, then look no further than the Sony Ericsson Xperia Play.  Launched in spring 2011 and running on the Android Platform, this highly functional smartphone, the Xperia Play is the first mobile smartphone developed under the PlayStation brand making a true hybrid between smartphone and handheld gaming device.

The superior processing power of the Gingerbread Android Platform enables the phone to play games of PSP quality and Sony Ericsson have developed the PS Suite to deliver high quality gaming from the likes of notable developers Namco and Electronic Arts. The phone comes complete with a joy pad which looks almost identical to that of the PSP, which whilst making the phone a little bulkier does make it look and feel like the real thing.

Apple iPhone 4S

The media giant which is Apple was always going to create massive media hype about this phone, but with an eye on the entertainment market it could well be that the hype is justified. What makes the Apple iPhone 4S deals stand out from its predecessor and of other smartphones and the market is not that missing Flash but the improved camera that now includes 1080p video capture and playback. The screen resolution of the iPhone 4 makes this a superior smartphone for your entertainment purposes, even if the screen is a little bit smaller than some of its rivals.

Whilst Android may be catching up; there are still more entertainment apps available running on the iOS. With Game Center you can partake in social games with your friends or strangers, and the new Siri voice control system could potentially open up a whole new world of smartphone gaming.

BlackBerry Torch 9860

BlackBerry has long been the preserve of the business man and up until recently has maintained its unique PDA-meets-phone stance in the market. However in August 2011, with the launch of BlackBerry OS7, RIM has finally produced a handset that successfully does away with the QWERTY. The BlackBerry Torch 9860 is the best touchscreen handset ever produced by RIM and makes the company ready to take on its entertainment smartphone rivals.

Despite not coming in a traditional BlackBerry form the Torch 9860 still has all of the best features that you would expect from a BlackBerry phone such as BlackBerry Messenger and BlackBerry App World.

HTC Sensation 4G

HTC has long been a silent winner in the current battle of the smartphones and the HTC Desire was a valiant rival to the much hyped iPhone 4. Now we have the HTC Sensation 4G and the battle has started to get hotter. The first thing you notice about the HTC Sensation 4G is the speed at which it works; applications loaded in milliseconds, geo location located in seconds and one of the fastest cameras found on a smartphone. All this displayed on a pretty impressive 4.3 inch qHD display which doesn’t compromise its compact frame.

The larger screen and superior processing power make the Sensation one of the best Android phones for entertainment, and particularly great for watching videos with access to the HTC Watch streaming video service.

Nokia N9

The trusty Nokia, stuck up a mountain will have reception where other smartphones fail, but how do Nokia shape up in the entertainment smartphone arena? Well, pretty well as it happens with the Nokia N9. The phone runs on the new venture MeeGo operating system which promises superior processing power but may not have good future support with Nokia's decision to move to Windows Phone 7.

What does set the Nokia N9 against its rivals in the entertainment is the very impressive camera, featuring a dual-LED, eight mega pixels, and the trustworthy Carl Zeiss lens. Whether this makes Nokia market leaders once again remains to be seen.
