Nationwide, the smartest fleet managers and dispatchers use GPS for fleet tracking because they realize that the more real-time information they have at their disposal, the more efficient and productive both they and their company can be. In any business, knowledge is power, and small adjustments can pay big dividends. The extra information you can gain by using a quality GPS setup can literally mean the difference between profitability and loss.

Two Way Radios v/s Cellular Phones
Follow @ryderskull88
So, how do these two pieces of equipment differ? Which is better? Which works better in specific situations?
Here's a comparison:
Nope, that’s not copy for a cellular phone, it’s for a two-way radio system.
Sleek, versatile. Faster than the bulky and one dimensional two way radios.
And, that’s an ad for a cellular phone.
1. It’s very, very easy to use two way radios. All you have to do is push a button to transmit.
2. Cellular phones lose their connectivity signals in certain areas like the basement of a mall. Two way radio systems do not experience any signal loss so long they operate within their valid range.
3. Some radio systems come equipped with a telephone interconnect system. You can use this system to make and receive telephone calls through your existing phone company. Cellular phones do not come equipped with a two way radio interconnect system.
4. Two way radios work faster. Push a button and talk to the person on the other line. Cellular phones require punching in a number. If you are ever caught in an emergency, you will realize that two way radios are faster, easier and more superior than cellular phones.
5. Sparks will erupt in a cellular phone when it is used in a flammable area. Not so with two way radios.
6. You can use a two way radio in very noisy, unclean, dusty and wet areas. This is because these radios come equipped with noise cancellation technology and are very robust. Cellular phones may not work in such conditions.
7. Many radio systems feature a man-down option. In other words, the radio automatically sends out an alarm signal when its operator remains horizontal for over 30 seconds. Ever see a cell phone do that?
8. Radio systems come armed with massive warranties of over two years. Labor too is covered under a warranty. Cellular phones come with a bare minimum one year warranty.
9. You can use the “selective calling” feature in some radio systems to speak in private with one person or with a group.
All said and done, two way radios and cellular phones are great pieces of equipment that are designed for different situations. Two way radios help increase productivity, ensure safety and help manage situations and places, save lives, and help manage emergency situations. Cellular phones are just like a phone, except that they are wireless and mobile. Of course, you can use cellar phones in an emergency, but then cellular phones are not designed for the same exact purposes that two way radios are.
Cellular phones, especially the smartphones, have many advantages over two way radios. But then when it comes to managing people and handling work places and emergencies, cell phones are no match for two way radios.
These are the main differences between a two way radio and a cellular phone.
2 way radios are indispensable resources in many progressive industries nowadays, and Discount Two-Way Radio supplies these types of radios as well as a large selection of Motorola radio batteries and oem replacements that are on sale orfound atclearance prices. http://www.discounttwo-wayradio.com/batteries-motorola

Redundancy at Every Level
Many technology, computing, energy, finance, and healthcare firms depend on data centers for their colocation needs. Businesses use data centers for disaster recovery operations as well. A reliable and efficient Houston colocation facility must have several key components in regard to redundancy.
Redundancy refers to the ability of a colocation facility to keep their operations running 24/7/365. Houston colocation facilities should have secure and constant sources of power, water, and network connectivity. No component or system has a single point of failure in a fully redundant utility supply chain. Dual utility feeds make this possible.
Power Supply
There are four distinct data center power feed classifications:
1.) Class One: ‘Single Feed’
- A single substation supplies the power to the data center.
i. The substation supplies multiple, external utility transformers with power. These in turn supply the data center.
ii. This system is risky because the power supply has multiple points of failure.
- If the substation experiences an outage, then the data center experiences an outage.
- There is no MTO (manual throw-over) or ATO (automatic throw-over) switch.
2.) Class Two: ‘Single Substation’
- A single substation supplies two power feeds to the data center.
i. An ATO/MTO receives the power supply and then supplies the external utility transformers with power.
ii. This system reduces outage risk, but is still inherently risky because all power comes from one substation.
- There are multiple points of failure in a Class Two system.
3.) Class Three: ‘Dual Substations’
- Two substations each supply a feed to the data center.
i. An ATO/MTO receives power supplies from both feeds and then supplies the external utility transformers with power.
ii. This system is still risky because the data center must rely upon the ATO/MTO switch’s proper operation.
4.) Class Four: ‘True Dual Feed’
- Two substations each supply a direct power feed to internal transformers within the data center.
i. The data center has control of their power supply, not the utility company.
ii. This guarantees full redundancy.
Businesses should select a Houston colocation data center that offers a Class Four dual power feed.
Water Supply
Houston colocation facilities use a considerable amount of electricity, due to the nature of high performance computing. Significant amounts of cool water are needed to keep temperatures of equipment low and stable. Water cooling techniques offer a more energy efficient solution than air-conditioning techniques. Houston colocation facilities should have dual water feeds that originate from different utility sources. This ensures complete reliability and redundancy. On-site emergency water storage tanks provide a way for data centers to guarantee that the water cooling system will operate seamlessly in the case of disaster or utility shutdown.
Network Connections
A Houston colocation facility should offer blended and carrier-neutral Internet access. Blended Internet access gives clients the most efficient and reliable routing for network connectivity. Carrier-neutral access allows businesses to select from a wide variety of carriers.
Conclusion
It is vital that a Houston colocation facility offer full redundancy at every utility level. Power, water, and network connectivity should have true, dual feeds. Businesses should select a Houston colocation facility that can provide these guarantees in order to maintain continuous and secure operations.
James Rogers discusses colocation opportunities in the Houston Area. He believes colocation should be considered by any company that wants to keep data safe. James helps educate readers about the benefits of colocation and data centers for companies of all sizes.

How VoIP works by SureVoIP
Follow @ryderskull88
Voice over IP (VoIP, or Voice over Internet Protocol) commonly refers to the communication protocols, technologies, methodologies, and transmission techniques involved in the delivery of voice communications and multimedia sessions over Internet Protocol (IP) networks, such as the Internet. Other terms commonly associated with VoIP are IP telephony, Internet telephony, voice over broadband (VoBB), broadband telephony, and broadband phone.
Internet telephony refers to communications services —voice, fax, SMS, and/or voice-messaging applications— that are transported via the Internet, rather than the public switched telephone network (PSTN). The steps involved in originating a VoIP telephone call are signaling and media channel setup, digitization of the analog voice signal, encoding, packetization, and transmission as Internet Protocol (IP) packets over a packet-switched network. On the receiving side, similar steps (usually in the reverse order) such as reception of the IP packets, decoding of the packets and digital-to-analog conversion reproduce the original voice stream. Even though IP Telephony and VoIP are terms that are used interchangeably, they are actually different; IP telephony has to do with digital telephony systems that use IP protocols for voice communication, while VoIP is actually a subset of IP Telephony. VoIP is a technology used by IP telephony as a means of transporting phone calls.

History of The Telephone Line
Follow @ryderskull88
Within two years of the first telephone call being made, Bell's patents were used to set up a company in the UK, backed by the then not insubstantial investment of £100,000. 150 telephone lines were quickly rolled out in London, with each line able to support a maximum of eight users simultaneously.
Further telephone exchanges were developed in the UK until in 1879 there were 200 subscribers in London, with lines leading across the country to Sheffield, Manchester and even Edinburgh. A rival company founded on the patents registered by Thomas Edison was also established in this year, undercutting the price of Bell's service by a significant margin in order to win over British customers.
The telephone was famously invented by Alexander Graham Bell in the US during the 19th century, with the first call made over just 100 feet (30.5 metres) on the 14th of February, 1876. In the subsequent years a global industry has developed around this type of technology, with the humble telephone line still going strong to this day despite competition from emerging wireless services.
Here is a quick overview of the history of the telephone line from its early establishment to its modern applications, which should hopefully indicate just why it was such an important technological advance and how it changed the world.
The technology powering telephone lines was continually developed over the years, but it was in 1922 that things really got going when electro-mechanical technology designed by Almon B Strowger of the US became widely adopted to help automate the process. For the next seven decades or so, the UK's exchanges used a variant of this hardware in order to route calls.
By the mid-1980s, BT had become a private company and it began to look to digital technology to replace the analogue signals which had been carried by telephone lines for so many years. Investments of over £20 billion were made to update the UK's infrastructure. Despite this, it was not until 1995 that the final exchange working on Strowger's original design was closed, indicating the enduring nature of this set-up.
Using metallic cabling for telephone lines with analogue electrical signals transporting the audio information was not the only invention of Bell's which would go on to shape the world. As early as 1880, he was working with Sumner Tainter on something which they called the Photo-phone, which was essentially an early form of fiber-optic communication.
Fibre optics would remain impractical and largely unpatented for the transmission of digital data until 1966. The lower attenuation rates in fiber-optic cables compared to metallic equivalents made them desirable for long-distance signal transmission and the UK was home to the first fiber-optic data line during the mid 1980s when a 140Mbps connection was set up between Luton and Milton Keynes. This would pave the way for the proliferation of optical technology which we see today being rapidly rolled out to replace the original metallic infrastructure as data rates are increased.

The emergence of widespread broadband connectivity after the turn of the millennium, delivered either via traditional landlines or fiber-optic connections, eventually allowed more and more businesses and subscribers to access digital voice services. VoIP providers began to emerge in the middle of the 2000s, with companies such as Skype helping to introduce average consumers to the idea of making long-distance, IP-based calls between PCs rather than fixed-line handsets.
Today, a single fiber-optic connection or broadband-enabled telephone line can do the work of multiple older lines thanks to VoIP technology and the flexibility of the digital age. In spite of the growth of the mobile market, people still value telephone lines for their reliability and affordability.

Infographics: Energy Efficient Data Centers
A data center or data centre (also datacenter or datacentre) is a facility used to house computer systems and associated components, such as telecommunications and storage systems. It generally includes redundant or backup power supplies, redundant data communications connections, environmental controls (e.g., air conditioning, fire suppression) and security devices.
IT operations are a crucial aspect of most organizational operations. One of the main concerns is business continuity; companies rely on their information systems to run their operations. If a system becomes unavailable, company operations may be impaired or stopped completely. It is necessary to provide a reliable infrastructure for IT operations, in order to minimize any chance of disruption. Information security is also a concern, and for this reason a data center has to offer a secure environment which minimizes the chances of a security breach. A data center must therefore keep high standards for assuring the integrity and functionality of its hosted computer environment. This is accomplished through redundancy of both fiber optic cables and power, which includes emergency backup power generation.

Infographics: The Evolution of Traditional Telephone
The telephone colloquially referred to as a phone, is a telecommunications device that transmits and receives sounds, usually the human voice. Telephones are a point-to-point communication system whose most basic function is to allow two people separated by large distances to talk to each other. Developed in the mid-1870s by Alexander Graham Bell and others, the telephone has long been considered indispensable to businesses, households and governments, is now one of the most common appliances in the developed world. The word "telephone" has been adapted to many languages and is now recognized around the world.
All modern telephones have a microphone to speak into, an earphone (or 'speaker') which reproduces the voice of the other person, a ringer which makes a sound to alert the owner when a call is coming in, and a keypad (or on older phones a telephone dial) to enter the telephone number of the telephone to be called. The microphone and earphone are usually built into a handset which is held up to the face to talk. The keypad may be part of the handset or of a base unit to which the handset would be connected. A landlines telephone is connected by a pair of wires to the telephone network, while a mobile phone (also called a cell phone) is portable and communicates with the telephone network by radio. A cordless telephone has a portable handset which communicates by radio with a base station connected by wire to the telephone network, and can only be used within a limited range of the base station.

Mobile Video Conferencing: The Way Forward
Many companies and businesses have long adopted the practice of video conferencing – virtual audio-virtual meetings attended by people in two or more locations, and made possible by technologies in telecommunication. Today, with the penetration of mobile telephony, third generation networks and several options in phones with built in video cameras, mobile video conferencing is becoming a popular choice for businesses. There are several types of mobile video conferencing software that help companies organize meetings among people in different parts of the world.
Anytime, Anywhere
The most obvious advantage of adopting mobile video conferencing is that meetings can be held anytime and anywhere. Those attending the meeting need only dial in to the conference call, no matter where they are: at home, traveling or outdoors. It does not require the employees to be present together in a single room, something that can be difficult to accomplish for companies with its reach across different geographical location. For local companies, it cuts down all commuting hassles.

Money-saving
Mobile video conferencing helps companies save money by eliminating the need for all employees to be at the same place. This also means that companies can hold meetings more often to brainstorm, review the ongoing work and take stock of what is being done.

Improves Working Relationships
When meetings are held more often, the employees, or members of a team get to interact with each other more often than if mobile video conferencing was not used. This is especially true of teams that have members working from different locations. Interacting with each other more often means team members get to know each other, their strengths, weaknesses and how to capitalize on them. Video conferencing is more effective than phone calls because it provides actual face-to-face interaction.

With mobile video conferencing, executives can interact face-to-face with the business’ customers or partners. This gives it a personal touch and generates goodwill for the business. In manufacturing industries, it can be used to show the product, or the progress that is being made on it. It can also help customer service executive’s deal with customers’ problems by being able to see and locate the problem, and demonstrate how to deal with it. This can be a lot more effective than just giving instructions over the telephone, particularly when it comes to complicated technologies.

Smartphone Application: Sending Message thru SMS(Texting)
Good day, for this blog post we will talk about the usage of a Smart-phone application called the SMS or Short Messaging System or just plain Tex-ting. The used of this application has become more and more prevalent in this age of modern smart-phone. Instead of calling a person to used the call function of a phone we instead use the SMS application. We send the short message we want to send to a person or particular group of person listed on the phone memory book or just phone book. Now why do think most people find it more easy to use than using the call function or just calling the person if he or she wants to communicate with another person.
Well for one the cost of using this feature is very cheap compare to the call rate another is this SMS application can be done very easily and does not require much effort for most veteran user. Also one can TEXT almost anywhere and in any location. Even on location without network signal, the system automatically resend the message by saving it on the output and labeling it pending, then when the signal is available it can resend this message automatically. Well some phone model requires the user to resend the message if the signal has been detected by the phone. You don't need to type the the message al-over again you just press the send button and away it goes. While compare to calling the system needs to dial the number of the other person and then wait for that person to acknowledge the call to make sure you get the message across, sometimes you cant just call someone because of situations. He or she maybe in a important meeting with a client or office meeting that they simply cannot be disturbed.

While if you text the concerned person, if his phone is in the silent mode he or she can still peak and response to you without disturbing the meeting or the proceedings. This can be done discretely by the other person or by you defending on your situation. This cannot simple be done if you used the Call Function where you have to lift up the phone to call or response to a call. Even if you used a headset still the person needs to make certain movement in order to used or response to the in-coming call. Of course There situation that even texting is not applicable, for example if you are driving, you cannot just text away because driving needs a whole of attention, and simply doing another task while driving is very taxing and downright dangerous for you and everyone else on the street. Its a NONO to drink and drive just as the same is also thru for texting and driving at the same time. But if your stuck in a traffic jam for hours then maybe it safe to text and even to call.
Another factor is the strength of the network signal. Using the SMS on low and High signal places has very minimal differences on the message you want to send. While if you are going to call on a low signal location, the your voice might not be properly heard or understand by the other party you are talking to. Whereas if you text on allow signal the text message still can be send by the network and it still can be receive by the intended recipient of the message. Also there a feature on every smart-phone called SEND to Many or Group Messaging. How do we do this? Simple you first need to organized the groupings by using your contact on the phone, for example group name FAMILY, OFFICEFREIND, FRIEND and other name you want to identify that certain group. After this assign the members for each group. Include all the necessary members for that group. After creating the grouping you can now used the feature.
This feature is located on the SMS menu of your phone. Of course there is a cost associated with this SMS, if one standard message cost lets say $.001 then if your sending to five (5) person on that group them $0.001 multiple by 5 and you get the cost of sending 5 message simultaneously. The more the group members the bigger the cost detected to your account by the network provider of your phone. So make sure you always have a load especially for prepaid user whenever going on a trip or just passing a time to used the feature mentioned above.
