Symptoms description：
I bought a DVD from Europe last week and when I back to Washington I want to enjoy the DVD with my DVD player. As we all know it is necessary to remove the DVD region code by a DVD Ripper for us before playing it, so I get a DVD Ripper and insert the DVD into my DVD drive of my PC. But as a result, I can get my DVD drive; it is missing and not recognized by Windows.
Well, some day if you get into the same situation with me and cannot play or access a CD or DVD. Do not worry about it, and try these follow solutions to fix the problem.
Solution One：Using the third party software to fix your problem（windows 7/8）
1: Hit the combination shortcuts “Windows+R”. Then you will get a window as below. Type into and then hit “Enter” key.
2: The Search box in Control Panel will pop to you. Type into “troubleshooter”, and click Troubleshooting.
3: Then go to the Hardware and Sound item, click Configure a device.
Solution Two: Uninstall and reinstall your DVD drive

Solution Four: Using the registry subkey
1: Hit “Windows+R” and type “regedit” in the Run box, then press Enter.
2: Then you will get the navigation pane. Locate the following registry subkey:
“HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\atapi”. And then Right-click on “atapi”, point to New yet, then hit “Key”.
3: Type Controller0, and then press Enter. Right-click “Controller0”, point to New, and then click DWORD (32-bit) Value.
4: Press Enter after typing “EnumDevice1”. Right-click EnumDevice1 all the same, click Modify.... Type 1 in the Value data box, and then click OK. Exit and restart your PC.
