DB2 is language used in Mainframes,Linux , Unix or SQL server. It consists of creating tabular format of database. Special commands in DB2 enable users to retrieve required information. The small set of code required to capture desired data is called as Query.

DB2 Database and Application Fundamental Certification
Before we begin to think of any of the above certification, it is recommended to have DB2 Database and Application Fundamentals certification. It is an academic initiative by IBM. 60 questions to be answered in 90 mins, it is required to score minimum 60% in order to achieve the certification. This test is basic knowledge testing for students/faculty in companies who have hands on experience with DB2.
The course for basic DB2 certification covers below topics
Data concept & model, information model, relational data model along with components, relational database models and object like row, column, tables, view etc., storage allocation, Data server, Client packages, storage concept, admin tools, data movement, creation and linkage of database to servers, concept of SQL and objects, data concurrency and locking, database back up, recovery and security, related technologies like XML, XPath, XSLT, concept of API and application management, problem solving, SPUFI tools.
IBM provided online practice test option for this fundamental DB2 certification.
Once the fundamental certification is achieved one can start with application developer certification. Individual who are working currently in program development can find this certification more useful and advantageous.
DB2 Application Development
The examination criteria remain same as fundamental test but there is increase in scope and syllabus for this test. This test would cover majorly naming conventions, routines, functions, modules, data types, data manipulation like insert, delete or modify, cursor knowledge, management of unit of work, core concepts like bind/rebind, database connections, SQL statements, creating external functions, demonstration of advanced database objects.

DB2 Procedure Developer
This certification is beneficial for those who know how to use DB2 stored procedures, user defined functions and triggers. Examination pattern remains same as previous test. Test scope also contains advanced feature and related tools.
DB2 Database Administrator
Database Administrator certification involves Server management, Business rules implementation, Utilities, Security, Physical design, Monitoring activities, connectivity and networking.
DB2 System Administrator
System admin plays a vital role in creation of DB2 system; one should know the architectural and administrative functions available in DB2. Scope generally involves installation and migration, auditing and security, maintenance, backup, recovery and performance tuning.
