Top 5 Reasons Why Digital Printing Is Way Much Better Than Screen-Printing T-shirts

Digital printing is here! A new, much faster and less costly way to produce high quality printed t-shirts by using printer heads to apply the color or ink directly on top of a fabric. This color is unlimited for people using digital methods and you can create any type of design for your shirts; from single colored to multi colored. Screen-printing, as much as it is still being used, is being face out; just like other traditional ways of doing things.

Soy Ink - The Need To Know Myths And Facts

Listen

When people claim something is eco-friendly, there is usually some grey area where the product doesn't really hold up it to these claims. No more so is the case with soy ink which has long been touted as a very green solution to the harsh chemicals used in petroleum-based inks. This article is not intended to undermine the potential benefits of using soy ink, but will detail to you some widely held misconceptions about it.

3D Printers Will Change The World: Let's Take A Look Inside

Do you remember when printers were first invented and everyone thought it was the greatest invention in the world? The ability to take something from a screen and turn it into a real life replica was pretty amazing. Everyone thinks nothing of a printer these days. You can walk into any library in the world and have something printed for a few cents. I bet you couldn't even imagine business being able to operate without them. At the moment most businesses definitely couldn't.

But there's a new kid in town. People don't really know about it because it's so new. It's now possible to actually print 3D models, from the computer to an actual living creation. There's some huge projects deep in development and soon they will revolutionize the way everything is built. Can you picture a massive printer that actually builds houses with the click of a button? Soon, my friend, they will be here. Let's have a look at some of the different techniques they use to print 3D models.

Fused deposition modeling

FDM is the technique that's used by the largest number of people at the moment. All the commercial machines will use this and if you wanted anything done, you'd use it too. They basically take a big spool of metal wire or plastic and it's melted then placed next to the nozzle of the printer. One layer is done at a time and it's hardened before the printer moves onto the next layer.

Inkjet printing

This one is a little like your printer at home, although it's a long time yet before you can turn your work into 3D models. Special inks are used and they are inclusive of resins and binders. Now layer upon layer is added to the model until your chosen 3D shape is formed. This is unfortunately the only way you can print something with custom colors at the moment.

Selective laser sintering

Sintering means the product is created from powders. You're probably wondering how you could ever create a solid object from powder, but this powder can be anything: metals, glass, even ceramics. The laser basically solidifies the powder as it draws the shape. As you can imagine, the laser involved has to be very powerful, so you'll only see this type of thing happening in industrial projects.

Digital light processing

Now we move onto liquids which are solidified by light. It's also a very powerful light and will only ever be seen on industrial projects. The light is not something you'd want to look directly at unless you wanted your eyeballs to melt. The best thing about this method is the accuracy you can achieve, so for more complex projects it's definitely top drawer. Think space shuttle parts.

And the rest

There's a few other ways that are not nearly as popular is the methods already mentioned. As time progresses they will keep coming and eventually we will find a great technique that's easy to use in a commercial setting.

The future is coming

As I mentioned before, when you think of printers in business it's hard to imagine them not being around. The exact same thing will eventually happen with 3D printers. It's going to replace millions of jobs around the world and will eventually replace most methods of manufacturing. When it does we will only need people to operate and perform maintenance on the printers. The world is going to change in the next 50 years and it's going to be an exciting time indeed. Let's hope we are all around to see it because we're going to be amazed. Now try to imagine what you could do to change the world if you had the power of a 3D printer at your disposal.

Malware Mucks Up Business

Each year, businesses are hit with malware infections. Malicious software may damage computers, enable corporate thieves to steal proprietary data or simply slow the network to a crawl. Regardless of the motivation behind malware attacks and infections, large corporations are not the only targets of malicious software. Smaller companies are also affected every year.

Malware Affects Big and Small Businesses Alike

Though 50 percent of all companies affected by malware employ 2500 or more individuals, smaller companies must deal with the problems caused by malicious software, as well. Eighteen percent of companies that are affected by malware employ fewer than 250 people. No matter the size of the company, malware is always a concern.

Malicious software may pose a security threat to companies. Not only are trade secrets and proprietary information at risk, but individuals may also have their identities stolen though malware infected computers. Over 187 million people have had their identities stolen as the result of hacking attacks.

Malware Threatens Productivity Levels

At the very least, loss of productivity may occur due to infected computers rendered inoperable or slow at the workplace. No matter the size of the business, training employees about the cost of malware, as well as how to avoid malware infection, is important. When training employees about mitigating risk of malware infections, it is important to discuss that malware is spread through infected websites that install the malicious software on the computer through the web browser.

Although most malware is spread through webpages, a computer could also be infected via email attachments. During training, be sure to cover that an estimated 1 in 239 emails contain malware in attachments. Train employees to avoid websites that are not work related while on the job. In addition, train employees to never open email attachments unless they know and trust the sender.

Security Awareness Training Can Help Stop a Growing Problem

Malware is a growing problem. Between 2010 and 2011, the incidence of malware increased by nearly 41 percent. Training employees and ensuring that the latest anti-virus sofware is installed on all company machines will help to mitigate the risk of malicious software infecting the company network.

If You Haven't Considered Online Printing Yet, It's Your Loss!

In simple terms, online printing is conventional printing but via a web portal or the World Wide Web. Online printing should be accessible from anywhere at any given time as long as one has access to the Internet. Companies referred to as online printing Firms carry out the actual online printing.

For a business to thrive, it needs exposure to its targeted clients resourcefully. For many years, the easiest way to achieve this has been via print media. Nowadays, there are numerous methods for a business to advertise itself through the various media platforms. Print media is one sector in this category though there are many other methods. Print media includes magazines, newspapers, catalogs, signboards, flyers and posters, and these are particularly vital advertising platforms that should be used efficiently for any kind of business to thrive. Humans respond remarkably well to visual applications, therefore, the more aesthetic or attractive one makes it, the greater the attention it attracts.

Online printing has revolutionized the printing services sector. Any business can nowadays access online printing from online printing firms. Online printing firms handle most if not all printing requirements. One enormous advantage of online printing is that it is cheap. This is particularly vital for any business since for a business to be successful, it has to reduce its expenses and maximize on profits. Online printing firms offer discounts on printing. However, discounted printing does not mean that the printing firms are cutting corners. The quality from discounted printing is just as potent as the one offered by conventional printing firms.

Online printing is advisable for any business operating within a narrow budget. Usually when a business is seeking for a supplier of raw materials or services, the cost in relation to the goods or services must be taken into consideration. This consideration pays specific attention to the quality of goods or services being supplied in comparison to the cost incurred.

When it comes to business, every activity including the goods or services is centered on cost. This then is why when a business delves into advertising their shop, store or brand; they have to make certain that the service achieved as a result, will cost less than what it is worth. Thus, when printing posters or flyers in a large number for the purpose of advertisement, it is advantageous if they are as cheap and of the best possible quality. Here is where online printing comes in, of course.

When ordering posters, flyers or brochures online, it is best to order printing in bulk. This helps because the more you print, the less the cost per item printed. Therefore, you should order printing of advertising material in a large volume if the business has the capacity to distribute the material within a specified period coinciding with the advertising and marketing calendar. You should also consider the delivery and payment method. Usually online printing firms need credit card details for the business while others consent to cash on delivery.

Folks, online printing of posters, flyers or brochures is an easy and expedient way of doing a business’s marketing material being that it is hassle-free. If you haven't tried it yet, you should certain start looking into it soon!

After facing problems of narrow budgets and high prices of printing services. Author Jordan Siron decided to blog about online printing services which would help others in doing smart work!

Computer 101: The Dot-Matrix Printer is here to stay.

One of the early technology in printing is the impact printers, during the early era of computers in work place, home and school there is the all kinds of impact printers. One of the most recognizable model of the impact technologies for printers is the Dot-Matrix Printers. It is every where, where there is computer there is bound to be one of this kinds of printer. As time and technology for printer evolve and developed new type of printer started to dominate the landscape for printing. The once proud and dominant dot-matrix printer where slowly replace by the more silent and more efficient ink jet and laser printer. But did the dot-matrix completely loss is usefulness in the era of ink jet and laser printer, well the answer is a big NO.

Even with today's new type of printing where almost all printer is a combination of three machine or the so called all-in-one type, where one can print, scan and photocopy any type of documents, and yes there is the fourth one the printer can also be used as a fax machine. But before we go any deeper, let's do a quick tutorials on what is a dot-matrix printer.

What is a dot-matrix or impact printer?

A dot matrix printer or impact matrix printer is a type of computer printer with a print head that runs back and forth, or in an up and down motion, on the page and prints by impact, striking an ink-soaked cloth ribbon against the paper, much like the print mechanism on a typewriter. However, unlike a typewriter or daisy wheel printer, letters are drawn out of a dot matrix, and thus, varied fonts and arbitrary graphics can be produced. Because the printing involves mechanical pressure, these printers can create carbon copies and carbonless copies.

Each dot is produced by a tiny metal rod, also called a "wire" or "pin", which is driven forward by the power of a tiny electromagnet or solenoid, either directly or through small levers (pawls). Facing the ribbon and the paper is a small guide plate pierced with holes to serve as guides for the pins. The moving portion of the printer is called the print head, and when running the printer as a generic text device generally prints one line of text at a time. Most dot matrix printers have a single vertical line of dot-making equipment on their print heads; others have a few interleaved rows in order to improve dot density.

Well i hope that the explanation above is clear enough for us to understand what is a dot-matrix or high impact printers. Even though we think that because of new development in printing technology the dot-matrix printer will become obsolete. Well for me i think not, because until this very day that i wrote this article there is a lot of offices and home that is using the dot-matrix printer.

Use of  Dot-Matrix Printer Today

As of 2005, dot matrix impact technology remains in use in devices such as cash registers, ATM, and many other point-of-sales terminals. Thermal printing is gradually supplanting them in these applications. Full-size dot-matrix impact printers are still used to print multi-part stationery, for example at bank tellers and auto repair shops, and other applications where use of tractor feed paper is desirable such as data logging and aviation.

Some are even fitted with USB interfaces as standard to aid connection to modern legacy-free computers. Dot matrix printers are also more tolerant of the hot and dirty operating conditions found in many industrial settings. The simplicity and durability of the design allows users who are not "computer literate" to easily perform routine tasks such as changing ribbons and correcting paper jams.

English: An Epson MX-80 dot matrix printerImage via Wikipedia

Some companies, such as Printek, DASCOM, WeP Peripherals, Epson, Okidata, Olivetti, Lexmark, and TallyGenicom still produce serial and line printers. Today, a new dot matrix printer actually costs more than most inkjet printers and some entry level laser printers. However, not much should be read into this price difference as the printing costs for inkjet and laser printers are a great deal higher than for dot matrix printers, and the inkjet/laser printer manufacturers effectively use their monopoly over arbitrarily priced printer cartridges to subsidies the initial cost of the printer itself. Dot matrix ribbons are a commodity and are not monopolized by the printer manufacturers themselves.

What do you think is the future of the dot-matrix printer for the next 10 or 20 years, will still be around by that time or for all usefulness and durability it will be another extinct commodities in technology? Can you share your thoughts on these?

What Are Printer Cartridges?

Published-Articles.com | What Are Printer Cartridges?

By: richard james

Printer cartridges refer to the ink that is needed by a printer in order to print sheets of paper. It is often also referred to as toner or simply printer ink. There are a few things you need to know when setting out to buy printer cartridges to ensure you get the right one. This article acts as a quick cheat sheet of all the basics with regard to printer cartridges. Here you will find an explanation of the different types available as well as learning how to buy the right type for your printer.

-->
First of all it is important to establish the differences between printer ink, cartridges and toner, because there is in fact a difference. Printer ink is self-explanatory - it is the substance needed to print. Ink cartridges refer to the container that the ink is held in. To keep things easy and free from spillage, printer ink is held in cartridges which can easily and simply be slotted into place in the printer. Toner also acts like ink but it is a different substance altogether. Toner is only used in laser printers. It is a type of powder rather than a liquid and is used by laser printers to create the actual printing. Although these terms all mean the same sort of thing, it is important to know the differences between them.

When you set out to buy a printer you will be presented with a few different choices. If you want to do a large amount of printing then a laser printer that uses toner will probably be the best choice. Not only is the printing of excellent quality but it prints very fast indeed. If the printer is for a large office where regularly printing is carried out, this may be the best choice. If you don’t do very much printing but just need a printer very occasionally then an ink printer will be more appropriate. These are cheaper than their laser rivals and the ink is much cheaper in particular. Although the printing quality may not be as high, there is very little in it, and to the untrained eye the printing quality looks fairly similar.

You will be surprised at the cheap value of printers found in the shops. They are kept cheap because the manufacturers are aiming to lock the consumer into a contract of sorts. Each printer requires a different type of ink cartridge or a different type of toner. These are not cheap and are how the printer companies make their money. If they keep their printers low then they have more chance of enticing you in and thus locking you in to years of purchasing their own brand of ink cartridge. When you buy a printer therefore you should base it entirely on the price of the cartridge as this is where the real money comes into play.

It is always better to buy your printers online because here not only can you compare prices easily but you have a large amount more on offer to you. Your local shop is likely to only stock one or two models and there will be a premium on them too. There are plenty of low prices and discounts available online so if you want to get the most for your money, shopping online is absolutely vital. If you already have a printer then you will need to match up the model number with the ink cartridge in order to make sure you select the right one. Buying online makes it much easier to ensure you get this right!

Computer 101: Installing a Printer on your Computer

Why? Well does everyone know how to install a basic printer? But there is the printer manual on how to install one. Every new printer that is bought off the shelf comes with one manual. Yes that true but does everyone really read those manual or do take time to understand them. To most of user installing a printer on their own is simply hard to do. If something's go wrong during the installation process they easily give up and ask a tech supp guy to do it for them with payment of course.

Most printers' installation is the same and they use the same cable connection with the computer Universal Serial Bus cable. Let's do a quick checklist on what we need to install a newly bought regular printer. The printer itself, CD driver, USB cable and the power cable. All of them must be present to be able to install the printer on to the computer. Most common mistake by people installing their printer is plugging the printer first to the computer then waiting for it to install itself. This will only work if your computer's operating system is regularly updated on all its driver and software front. Also even if you successfully installed the driver of today printer most of its monitoring software will not be included. This monitoring software is also important in the day to day operation of the printer.

When you're going to check for the ink level of your printer this additional software. Another function of this software it the maintenance side of it. Which we will not go into details here. To get started first put the CD or DVD driver into your CD/DVD ROM drive and let the auto play or if the auto play ask to allow it to run then go ahead and click the okay button. Then after clicking the button wait for it to display the welcome screen or the menu asking you to choose what kinds of installation would you like. Now to make this simple if you see an option to install all items then go ahead and check the box beside it or check all the box besides all the item listed including the driver. This make take a little longer to install but at least will you can be sure that all features of your printer are taken care of. Now click the next button to continue. Wait for the installation program to ask for you to connect your printer.

When the program ask you to connect your printer make sure that you connect the printer properly on the USB port of your computer and turn it on and wait for the program to detect your printer and to continue installing it and the rest of the software package that goes with it. Remember to wait for it finishes the installation routine. A screen will display that the installation is done and you will know it.
