Choosing Between Manufacturer And Independent PC Technician Services

When your PC has stopped working, what you will want to do is simply to get it back up and running as soon as possible. But the question is, should you take it to a manufacturer-approved PC technician or to an independent one?

Making the decision regarding which PC technician you will be taking your PC to isn’t always a straightforward one, as not all manufacturer-approved services are better than the independent repairer, and not all independent PC technicians will work out cheaper than going to the manufacturer’s chosen technician.

One of the most important things that you should be looking at once you have tried the avenues available to fix your PC yourself is to find what qualifications and accreditations that your local technicians will have. The most successful PC technician will always be happy to discuss their qualifications with you, and will often include more details of these on any business cards or websites that their company has.

The most obvious benefit of going to a manufacturer-approved PC technician is that they will have had to go through some form of assessment set by the manufacturer in order to ensure that they are of sufficient standard. In a field where there are so many different qualifications which can be completed, and the standards of the varying qualifications are often difficult to compare, the manufacturer’s assurance on the skills of the technician can be a very helpful.

However, the benefits of going to an independent PC technician are also significant, where as a general rule, you will find that they have prices which will be more competitive than the manufacturer-approved option, and because they will frequently work with a wider variety of machines, and will also build PC’s, they can have a broad base of experience which will help them in repairing your PC.

One thing you should certainly be doing is asking around to see if anyone you know has used any local PC repair services, and what kind of service that they have received with that PC technician.

Ultimately, the choice will usually come down to whether you prefer the extra reassurance of using the manufacturer approved technician or the lower prices that you can get when you use an independent technician.
